The majestic peaks of the Grand Tetons will provide the backdrop of the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Neurosurgical Society in Jackson Hole, Wyoming June 16-20, 2007. The meeting venue is the rustic Spring Creek Ranch, set just minutes from downtown Jackson and accented by stunning views of the surrounding mountains.The town of Jackson enjoys close proximity to two national parks, the Grand Teton National Park nearby and Yellowstone National Park, a short and scenic 45 minute drive away, easily available for afternoon trips during the meeting or for a more extended visit before or after the meeting. The town of Jackson itself offers world class dining and shopping ranging from typical western goods to fine art galleries. Outdoor activities also are abundant with hiking, cycling, golf, tennis, river rafting, horseback riding, and fishing all readily available.The combination of the outstanding surroundings and the promise of an excellent scientific forum make attending this year’s meeting a must!
Spring Creek Ranch is situated on a wildlife sanctuary about 1,000 feet above the town of Jackson. It offers outstanding views of the surrounding mountains, including the 13,700 foot Grand Teton mountain peak. Accomodations offered include hotel rooms, condominiums, and mountain homes. The resort has a restaurant on site and a full service spa. Since the society last visited the resort in 1991, a conference facility has been constructed. The resort has received the prestigious Conde Naste Traveller Gold List designation. Temperatures in June average highs in the mid 70’s and lows at night near 40. Of course, Jackson is a mountain environment and temperatures can vary well off the norm at any time, so prepare for variations in the weather. The resort and town combine with the sites of the region are perfectly suited to the tradition of a family friendly RMNS annual meeting.
In addition to the scientific meeting and medical exhibits, our local arrangements co-chairman, Dr. Joel MacDonald and Dr. Mike Brown have arranged a truly unique and exciting social program. The opening reception will be an exciting opening to the meeting followed by a real western rodeo. You may also choose to experince the thrill of river rafting with two planned excursions of different length and difficulty. Space for these trips will be limited so make your plans early. Teton Pines Golf Club will be the site of this year’s golf tournament and the annual tennis tournament promises a fun competition for all involved.
Travel, Lodging, and Registration Information
Jackson is easily accessible by car from many surrounding states. The roads are picturesque and well maintained. Jackson is also served by the Jackson Hole Airport which is situated within the Grand Teton National Park and is about nine miles from town. The airport is served by several major carriers with connections through Salt Lake City and Houston. Despite active daily jet service, seats tend to fill early. Rental cars are also available at the airport.
