El Monte Sagrado
Taos, New Mexico
June 18-22, 2011

The 46th Annual Meeting of the RMNS, jointly sponsored by the AANS, will be held June 18-22, 2011 at El Monte Sagrado inTaos, New Mexico.  Dr. Paul Elliot is serving as the local arrangements chairperson, and is putting together an exciting array of activities for members, guests, and their families at this luxury resort.

Taos is so richwith Native American heritage. In addition to being an important historic site, Taos is also an artistic Mecca, proudly offering museums and galleries of its talented artists and craftspeople. It is not uncommon to find breathtaking pottery, painting, weavings, beaded creations and jewelry produced by artists who have followed in the footsteps of those who came before them.

Taos’ majestic surrounding mountain landscape also creates outstanding recreational opportunities, from golf and air ballooning to challenging alpine hiking in the surrounding mountains topping out at 11,800 feet. Whether you prefer championship golf or a peaceful day of fly fishing, there’s something for everyone. We are pleased to announce that our president Dr. Michael Brown has selected Dr. Frederick Boop to be one of our honored guests.

Abstracts for the annual scientific program can be submitted online at rockymountainneurosurgicalsociety.org.  The deadline for submission is February 15, 2011.  The Resident’s Award will be presented to the outstanding paper presented by a resident, with a cash prize plus travel expenses.  Members of the society who submit an abstract are eligible for the Academy Cup, presented each year to the best presentation by an RMNS member, in honor of the teaching career of Dr. Howard Morgan.  Presentations should be approximately 20 minutes, including time for questions and discussion.  Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the 2011 annual meeting.  We hope to see you in Taos!
