Summer Business Meeting Minutes June 22, 2021
The meeting was called to order at 7:35am by Michael Seiff, President.
Joel MacDonald presented a short memorial for the late Al Capanna.
Report of the President: The annual meeting seems to be going well. The gavel and associated items will be passed to the newly elected President.
Report of the Vice President: There was really good vendor turnout this year given all the issues with COVID-19. The vendors seem happy to be here and understand that in person attendance is lower this year due to COVID related travel issues. We had 3 new vendors this year, Kuros Biosciences, Cerapedics, GT Meditech
Report of the Treasurer: Nothing new since the exec meeting 3 days ago. We have around $120k in the bank. We will be paying each resident that presented $250. The resident awards will be $750, $500, and $250, which will be voted on by email after presentations tomorrow. Joel discussed the possibility of having some form of remote option in the future or other ways to entice residents to participate in the meeting. Participation in person would be preferable.
Report of the Secretary: The following applicants for membership were presented:
- Fotis Souslian; Lakewood, CO
- Wissam Asfahani; Parker, CO

Joel MacDonald made a motion that all of them were accepted for membership, the motion was seconded by Joe Sramek and passed by unanimous consent.
The following Officers of the Executive Board are continuing in their roles:
- Justin Davis, MD—Secretary

A motion was made, seconded and passed by unanimous consent for election of the following new officers:

- Brad Duhon, MD—President-elect
- John Clough, MD—Vice President
- Paul Elliott, MD—Historian
- Brad Lega, MD—Scientific Program Chair
- Kalil Abdullah, MD—Member-at-large
Report of the Scientific Program Chair: Moving forward the Scientific Program Chair needs to start earlier with gathering abstracts and getting conflict of interest forms filled out in order to avoid getting fined by the AANS. They are being pretty strict on this and need all COI forms filled out at least a month prior to the meeting. Also, application for joint providership needs to be completed at least 6 months prior to the meeting. We could possibly include NP’s in the presentations, but getting approval for their separate continuing education could be complicated.
Old Business: none
New Business: none
Dr. Seiff made a motion to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded by Dr. MacDonald and passed by unanimous consent.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:04am
Respectfully Submitted,
Justin Davis, MD, FAANS
